Art Conservation & Restoration in Canterbury

Preserving the character of your artwork with gentle, expert care.

At Natasha Pearl Gallery, we offer light art restoration and conservation services designed to preserve and enhance your treasured artworks. Led by our expert conservator, this meticulous service focuses on preventing further damage, rather than performing full-scale restorations.

What We Offer

1. Conservation Cleaning

We gently clean artwork by hand—cotton bud by cotton bud—to remove dirt, smoke residue, and dull varnish. The result? Brighter colours and renewed vibrancy.

2. Mould & Foxing Stabilisation

We treat mould and foxing (brown spotting) to prevent future growth and in many cases lighten existing marks, helping preserve the integrity of the artwork.

3. Varnishing & Surface Work

For oil paintings that were never varnished or have lost their protective finish over time, we offer light re-varnishing to enrich colour and protect the surface. Please note, we do not remove existing varnish.

4. Minor Touch-Ups & Frame Repairs

We can carefully fill and wax frame imperfections, and perform small in-painting touch-ups on works that have minor surface damage.

What We Don’t Do

We don’t carry out full museum-level restorations or work on photographs. Our service is best suited for paintings, watercolours, and prints needing basic care, cleaning, or stabilisation—not full historical restoration.
